Brett Defries Poems

The

     Auden: POETRY

MAKES NOTHING

and then some

EXECUTIVES NEVER

GO NEAR IT.

It is tribute never

teacher useless

lesson how to praise.

Fanny Howe:

THE LAND

IS AN INCARNATION.

Then what

are its stitches.

A path turning

forever guiding

steel and coal

through wheat and corn

and billboards of

infants reminding

us life is

the beautiful choice.

Jack Spicer:

THE IN

ABILITY TO LOVE

THE INABILITY

TO LOVE

IN LOVE

but love

is no passenger car

to be in.

The IN in incarnation

is the IN in in love and

in infants

choosing to survive

on billboards

breathing pesticides.

And this is true for sure.

The IN

in inability

is poetry's blessing and cure.
